Chasing Something

Posted on August 12, 2009 at 10:06 PM

I've been running roads lately and off line except for an occasional "catch up with my friends" session. But I just had to pop back here for a minute to share something written by a friend from England who posts on Faithbook.

Doug Burke wrote about an open question in a London newspaper regarding the pursuit of happiness. Readers wrote in about their experiences and opinions.

One lady wrote that we shouldn't pursue happiness because we won't find it.

"Don't look for happiness," she said. "Pursue peace. Happiness follows it."

Hmmm. Selah.

Think about that for a bit and get back to me. I'm fixin' to run some roads again.

"Seek peace and pursue it' (Psalm34:14).

The amount of happiness in our lives being controlled by the amount of peace we have. Interesting concept which could well be true. Finding peace in situations which are less than positive is hard but it can be done, but it relies on our ability to praise the Lord in every situation. Isn't life interesting?
