Caleb got it!

Posted on June 5, 2009 at 3:34 PM

My Bible fell apart yesterday. The one that sits on my desk. I hate when that happens. Don't get me wrong, I don't expect them to last forever, but I'm a writer-on Bible owner, and I hate to have those things I've written on the pages relegated to obscurity in the wilderness that is my bookshelves.

So here's something I found on one page. Sorry I can't credit it. I know my writer friends out there will be horrified by this, but I've long since forgotten who said it:

Caleb~

  1. Was willing to be different. (He said "Yes" when five million said "No.")
  2. Stood up to naysayers. ( Even when he was in the minority.)
  3. Connected with others of like mind.
  4. Was fully obedient, not selectively so.
  5. Was ready for adventure.
  6. Believed he was a winner.
  7. Had no fear of obstacles. (Give me that mountain!)
  8. Patiently waited for his time.
  9. Was prepared to seize the moment.
  10. Didn't give up; he made it to the promised land.

Also, he didn't equate ease with safety.

Selah!

That's a good resume Caleb had. We have it easy compared to him and yet we often fall short. He did everything, (I was going to say right but it was really,) God's way. He saw his mountain and set his will to have it. It took forty years but he achieved his goal.

Yes Fay,
I have such a Bible, my very first as a believer. May be I should take it out and browse its pages. I'm sure I'd find some treasures too! Meanwhile, like Caleb, we can strive toward exercising those same qualities.
