We are awaiting, with deliberately exercised patience, the arrival of our first grandchild. He or she is due in the second week of April, on the 10thish, and that date is on our mind continually. Recently, both Glenn and I have noticed a heightened interest in Baby's R Us, Carters, Osh Kosh, or any other store that carries baby clothes or paraphernalia, and whenever we pass them in a mall we turn in without even discussing it. We have a stash of goodies, as do our daughter and son-in-law and the other grandparents, all ready for when that sweet one gets here.
Because we live a ten-hour drive from them, we are planning to find a sublet in New York for a while this fall, just so we can bond with baby. Imagining Christmases and summer vacations to come, we are making plans to change our home so there will be ample room for the little one. He or she needs to know there is always room at Nana Fay's house! (Grandma Sally already has lots of room!) We want this child to know, feel and experience our love.
I could go on about what we envision for the future, but I'm sure you can imagine how we look forward to each and every part of grandparenting.
And all this before we lay eyes on that baby!
Love is like that, isn't it? Especially when it comes to our children or grandchildren.
We come by it naturally, I think. Our father God was like that with us. Just get a concordance and see what he planned for us "before the foundation of the world".
Selah!
