Over to you, Lord.

It may sound flippant at first hearing, but this phrase, which I picked up the other day from my friend Mary Haskett's blog, has become almost a mantra in the last few days.

It's not about doing nothing, lazily expecting God to do all the work in whatever we think needs doing. This phrase is just a way of saying, "God, I'm doing my part, whatever it is, but I know you are my strength, and not just emotional or physical strength. You are the power behind what I do; you make it work. When it is successful, I recognize that although I am hands and feet and mind, it started and ended with you."

It also means, "I refuse to worry about this [problem, challenge]. I will enjoy this day and this work you have given, and trust that even today you are to me who you have said you'll be."

We're never alone or on our own. Never without help and favor. Not ever.

Thanks again, Mary. Over to you, Lord.

"Casting all your care [big ones and little ones] upon him, for he careth for you" (2 Peter 5:7).

Thank you Fay,
You've captured what I mean when I use this phrase. We have to do our part whether it be prayer or some other activity and then we can say, Over to you Lord. Praise His Holy name.
Blessings
Mary

When we come before God with a problem, His answer is in the form of a question. " What do you have at hand?"
When we answer that question, He responds with, "Give it to me."
Once we have fulfilled that request, we can say to God. "Over to You Lord."
I believe that is where the phrase, "God helps those who help themselves:" comes from.
If, on the other hand, we choose not to give that which He requires of us, He won't respond to our, "Over to You, Lord."
God doesn't ask much of us. The example that comes to mind is Elisha and the woman with the little jar of oil. From the little Jar of oil, because of her obedience, she got enough oil to sell and provide for herself and her sons for many years to come.
What we have at hand isn't the issue. Obedience is what gives us the right to say, "Over to you Lord."
